VINCENT J. POERIO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Living Free Health proudly announces the Vincent J. Poerio Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Created in memory of Vincent’s lifelong belief in redemption, second chances, and personal responsibility, the scholarship will recognize individuals whose recovery journey reflects compassion, perseverance, and service to others.
Beginning in 2027, Living Free Health will begin accepting scholarship applications and awarding two annual $1,000 scholarships in Vincent’s memory. Please check back for application dates and eligibility updates.
In lieu of flowers, the Poerio family invites friends and loved ones to honor Vincent’s memory through a contribution to the Vincent J. Poerio Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Why This Scholarship Matters
Recovery is a journey filled with challenges, and financial hardships can make that journey even more difficult. Vincent J. Poerio believed in personal responsibility, resilience, and the ability of every individual to build a better future. He also believed that people in recovery are often the best judges of where support can make the greatest difference in their lives.
For that reason, the Vincent J. Poerio Memorial Scholarship will be awarded as unrestricted funds. Rather than limiting how the scholarship may be used, recipients will have the freedom to decide what best supports their continued recovery and personal success.
Whether used for housing, transportation, food, utilities, education, family support, or another meaningful purpose, the scholarship is intended to remove barriers, encourage personal responsibility, and help recipients continue building healthy, fulfilling lives.
The Annual Awards
Each year Living Free Health will announce the application period for the Vincent J. Poerio Memorial Scholarship.
Applications will include an essay topic, submission guidelines, and a deadline for submission.
The top six applicants will be interviewed, and scholarship recipients will be selected within two weeks of the interviews.
Awards will be determined by a representative team drawn from Living Free Health’s Board of Directors, Executive Management, Clinical Team, and Peer Support Team.
