Healthy Eating on a Budget - Living Free Health & Fitness

We’re on the home stretch of our 9-week beta SOBER LIVING ENRICHMENT PROGRAM with the Davis Houses.

In tonight’s group, we discussed methods for eating nutritious, calorie- and salt- smart, tasty foods. We dispelled the myth that you can’t eat well on a tight budget. Unfortunately, far too many of us (whether recovering from addiction or not) bring our impulsiveness and need for instant gratification to the grocery store when shopping. Our program emphasizes  understanding the importance of concepts like identifying healthy foods we like and can afford, eating in a 3-2-1 ratio (carbs, protein, fat), eating smaller, more frequent meals and PLANNING.

Not to make the process overly-complex – but rather to help restructure our thinking and behavior as it relates to our old ways of approaching shopping and meals. What did our team think of this approach?
