Joey started with our initial fitness programming eight weeks ago. Three weeks of outdoor recreation and Joey earned his spot in our subsidized gym program.
So what has changed for him?
Well, not his attitude, because he started with a great deal of optimism, inquiry and motivation.
What HAS changed for Joey since he started our programming of education and fitness / nutrition
- Lost 20 pounds!
- Exercising 5x per week at the gym.
- Making better meal choices (That grapefruit in the photo is his new mode of “snacking”!)
- STOPPED SMOKING – Was a 1/3 pack-per-day smoker.
Joey’s job working the front desk at the Rescue Mission can be challenging, with lots of distraction and different demands from a host of constituencies.
Joey attributes fitness and eating better to his ability to stay more relaxed in this high pressure environment.
All of our team members come from different starting positions, and will attain different results. We want to highlight those kinds of individual accomplishments for our readers and supporters.
